The Mortal Test
A spirit I was, a mortal to be…
The father came and spoke to me.
You’ve kept, my child, your first estate
and now it’s time to delegate…
A mother to give you mortal birth
a body and a place on Earth.
I know you’d like your mother, “kind”
but I have something else in mind.You see, my child, it’s easy to be
in a holy family that pleases me.
What’s not so easy and takes more grit
is to be placed with parents that are unfit.
A childhood filled with fear and unrest,
you must endure and pass the test.
As you struggle through confusion and pain
Your efforts to find me again will not be in vain.

The Testimony of Val John Jennings
In the Book of Mormon, Jarom 1:4, we read: “And there are many among us who have many revelations, for they are not all stiffnecked. And as many as are not stiffnecked and have faith, have communion with the Holy Spirit, which maketh manifest unto the children of men, according to their faith.”
My stubbornness has been subdued by the love I have found in the Gospel of Jesus Christ. I know I have felt the Spirit and, although, I have not seen angels, I am sure that I have been ministered to by them, even to the preservation of my life. I have been saved from serious injury and near death both in times of obedience and in times of disobedience. God isn’t finished with me yet.My testimony has grown over the years. I was born into a family that had pioneer ancestry on both sides.

By being the first in your family to accept the gospel, you become the first generation, a chosen generation through which generations past, present, and future may be blessed.
Elder Paul B. PieperSeveral days ago, we were discussing talks during a family meal. Clarissa, our 13-year-old daughter, was preparing a sacrament meeting talk for our branch in Moscow and felt some anxiety. I reassured her that all would be well and released a little anxiety of my own by saying that at least she didn’t have to speak in front of thousands of people in general conference. Clarissa gave me some advice of her own: “It will be OK, Dad. Just pretend it’s a big branch.” Brothers and sisters, you are indeed a very large branch.

My Testimony

I have a testimony.
It is sacred and dear to me.
It comes from Heavenly Father.
He gave it to me.My heritage was Mormon.
My father’s faithful kin
Were pioneers in the faith.
My mother, entered in.She was a Southern Baptist.
It was in her ways.
Although a gentle Mormon
It stayed throughout her days.My father was a gentle man.
He volunteered to walk.
Relay life for cancer.He lived his humble talk.

During the last two years, we have seen many significant international political events followed by dramatic consequences and changes for the world and also for the Church. We are also witnessing events that, perhaps not as visible but certainly as tangible, profoundly affect the quality of individual lives and families, followed by even more far-reaching consequences and changes specifically in relation to God, churches, and religious behavior. These changes have caused a significant shift in traditional or religious values toward world practices, and this is well described in one verse of modern revelation: “They seek not the Lord to establish his righteousness, but every man walketh in his own way, and after the image of his own god, whose image is in the likeness of the world.” (D&C 1:16.)
If we fail to recognize the personal spiritual challenge of political and economic changes and constant new threats to the moral and spiritual stability of individuals and families, we will fail to recognize the needs and requirements to adapt to these new conditions by finding within ourselves a firm and true foundation that will determine a firm and true behavior.

Io so nel mio cuore, attraverso lo Spirito Santo che abbiamo un Padre in cielo, un Dio onnipotente che esiste e ci ama più di quanto immaginiamo e che ascolta sempre le mie preghiere.
Sto imparando a confidare sempre di più in Lui e a credere nel Suo potere eterno.
So che grazie a Gesù Cristo e tramite il pentimento potrò tornare alla sua presenza nel Regno Celeste se mi manterrò degno.
So che il matrimonio è ordinato da Dio e credo nel potere di suggellamento di questa alleanza stipulata nel sacro tempio.
So che gli Articoli di Fede mi aiutano di più a credere in Dio e nella chiesa SUG.
Io sono grato per il sacerdozio che detengo e uso nel nome di Dio. So che il Libro di Mormon è la parola di Dio e che è la chiave di volta della chiesa e che mi rafforza spiritualmente quando lo leggo, e che davvero può cambiare la vita delle persone.
So che la felicità proviene dall’osservanza dei comandamenti di Dio.
So che abbiamo bisogno di imparare di più a parlare con Dio e riporre in Lui la nostra vita ed Egli ci benedirà in eterno come sta facendo con me nella mia vita e in quella della mia amata compagna eterna.
Nel nome di Gesù Cristo. Amen.
